Closure of our Community Health & Wellbeing Centre

Statement from YMCA Sefton re: closure of Community Health & Wellbeing Centre

Tuesday 3rd January 2017

Dear Customer

It is with great sadness that we are announcing the closure of our Community Health & Wellbeing Centre with immediate effect. Unfortunately, as providers in the local fitness and leisure industry have grown around us, with cutting-edge facilities and cheaper prices - a considerable amount of our business has been lost and we can no longer afford to compete.

We haven't taken this decision lightly and have worked tirelessly over the last couple of years to improve our offer to you; but we now realise it is no longer viable to run our Health & Wellbeing Centre.

As Trustees of YMCA Sefton, it is our duty to do the right thing to protect the charity’s long-term interests for the benefit of children and young people in the Borough of Sefton. As a result, we have made the very difficult decision that we can no longer afford to subsidise the running of our community health and wellbeing services.

All Health & Wellbeing Passholders are entitled to pro-rata refunds on their subscriptions and we will write directly to them with information on how to claim these within the next fortnight. Customers with standing orders should cancel these immediately with their banks. We will not be able to issue any further refunds after 31st January 2017.

Our Nursery is still very much open and continues to offer excellent early years service provision to children from 0-5 years of age. Please visit our website www.ymcasefton.org.uk with information on how to apply to send your child to our Nursery.

We'd like to thank all of our loyal customers from our Health & Wellbeing Centre for their support over the years. We know so many of you have fond memories of the Centre and we know almost half of the population has been skating at our YMCA at least once in their lives! Very happy times.

YMCA Sefton remains committed to providing services for children and young people in the Borough of Sefton in accordance with the YMCA Federation Plan.
